Jens Quistgaard ‘Trivet’ Candle Holder for Dansk Designs, Denmark, c.1962–64 – With Original Box
A striking example of Scandinavian modern design, this sculptural ‘Trivet’ candle holder was designed by renowned Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard for Dansk Designs in the early 1960s.
Crafted in black, the design features a distinctive geometric grid formation, with intersecting bars rotated at an angle to create an intricate interplay of light, shadow and texture. The nine candle holders are arranged in a considered square configuration, creating a bold architectural silhouette that is both functional and decorative.
Quistgaard’s celebrated approach to everyday objects is evident in the thoughtful construction and sculptural simplicity of this design. Originally conceived for use with slender taper candles, the holder makes an impactful centrepiece for a dining table, console or carefully curated interior.
A highly distinctive piece of Danish design
